Ask your AI assistant about your coffee

Connect BeanBench to Claude, ChatGPT or Perplexity, or use it in any Muse chat. Your assistant can then answer from our brewing guides, scale recipes to your dose and tell you when a bag is ready to brew. Setup takes about two minutes.

Pick one and follow the steps.

Connect Claude

Works on every plan, including free
  1. 1
Click the button. Claude opens with BeanBench already filled in.
  2. 2
Sign in if asked, then click Add.
Button didn't work? Add it by hand
  1. On claude.ai or the desktop app, open Customize, then Connectors.
  2. Click +, then Add custom connector.
  3. Name it BeanBench, paste the server URL, and set authentication to No sign in.
https://beanbench.coffee/mcp

Set it up on the web or desktop app; it then shows up in the Claude phone app too. Free plans allow one custom connector.

Use BeanBench in Muse

Muse can't save custom connectors yet
  1. 1
Open a new chat in Muse.
  2. 2
Start your message with this line, then type your question after it.
Use the BeanBench server at https://beanbench.coffee/mcp to answer this:
  3. 3
Send it. Muse calls BeanBench for that chat only, so add the line again when you start a new chat.

Muse is available in the US to adults 18 and over.

Connect ChatGPT

Needs a paid plan
  1. 1
On chatgpt.com, open Settings and turn on Developer mode. It sits under the apps or connectors section, in advanced settings.
  2. 2
Choose Create to add a new app or connector.
  3. 3
Name it BeanBench and paste the server URL.
    https://beanbench.coffee/mcp
  4. 4
Set authentication to No authentication, then create it.

Connect Perplexity

  1. 1
On perplexity.ai, open Settings, then Connectors.
  2. 2
Add a custom connector and paste the server URL.
    https://beanbench.coffee/mcp

Choose Streamable HTTP if asked, set authentication to None, and save. Then switch it on in your chat.

Menus look different? Search the assistant's settings for "connector" or "MCP". More help

Step 2

Check that it worked

Start a new chat and send this. If BeanBench is connected, the answer will include a link to beanbench.coffee.

Use BeanBench to find the James Hoffmann V60 recipe.

Things to ask

Copy one, or ask in your own words.

Freshness + recipe

"My bag of light roast says roasted Sept 30. When is it ready, and scale the Hoffmann V60 to 18 g for that day."

Fix a brew

"My V60 tastes sour. What does BeanBench suggest changing first?"

Read the bag

"The bag says anaerobic natural, 120-hour. What does that actually tell me?"

Tasting notes

"I'm tasting apricot and black tea. Where do those notes usually come from?"

Your brew log stays on your phone

The connector only reads public site content. It can't see anything in the BeanBench app, because your app data never leaves your device.

Want advice on a specific brew? Open it in the app and tap Ask AI. That copies a prompt with the details you choose, and you paste it into your assistant yourself.

The server logs which tool was called and how long it took. It doesn't log what you asked or what it returned. Privacy policy

If something doesn't match

I can't find Connectors in settings

Menus change often. Search settings for "connector", "integrations" or "MCP server". Some apps only show it on the web or desktop version.

It asks me to sign in or add a key

Choose None, No sign in or No authentication. BeanBench needs no account, key or password.

My plan doesn't have the option

ChatGPT needs a paid plan with developer mode, and Perplexity needs Pro or higher. Claude (including its free plan) and Muse are the quickest alternatives.

Why doesn't Muse keep BeanBench between chats?

Muse's Connectors list only offers connectors Meta has added, and it has no way to add your own yet. Muse can still call BeanBench in any chat when your message includes the server line, so start each new chat with it.

It connected, but answers don't mention BeanBench

Start a new chat and name it in your question: "Use BeanBench to…". Some assistants also need the connector switched on for each chat.

How do I remove it?

Delete BeanBench from the same Connectors list where you added it. Muse doesn't save it, so there is nothing to remove there.

For developers Server details and tool names

BeanBench runs a public, read-only MCP server at https://beanbench.coffee/mcp (streamable HTTP, no auth). Results carry the source URL, and calculator results list their assumptions.
